From Maystead to Armitstead
April 1st is not just a day for joking around, it's the time to kick off the best Spring wedding in Dallas, Texas!
Kim + Zach started as a mini session in 2021 and have trusted us in their engagements, bridals, then wedding photos. It's been a blast developing a friendship with these guys and that friendship made covering their wedding extra special and incredibly comfortable.
Keeping their marriage as the main focus, Kim & Zach decided not to have a wedding party. And, honestly, we were ALL for it. Before the ceremony, we spent about 15-20 minutes getting some photos of the couple with their closest friends both posed and candidly as they enjoyed some time at a local Barcade. After that, we quietly slipped away to grab a drink at a location memorable to Kim & Zach. At Tiny Victories, we had a minute to snap some photos of the couple relaxing and getting ready for all of the excitement that was literally around the corner. This was a first for us with a wedding couple, and after chatting with Kim months later, this was their favorite moment of their day. They had about 15 minutes to themselves before anyone was seated, before the vows and family photos, and before the dance floor was jumping, to just be together and to move slowly. They had a chance to check in and get a pulse on the day and their emotions.
After the downtime, it was time to head down the aisle at their historic venue, The Cliff House. Simplistic seating and decor meant all eyes were on Kim as she came down the aisle alone. And since there was no wedding party, when she got to the floral lined stage, it was just her, the officiant, and her man up front. Kim and Zach had a friend officiate which made the ceremony and vows extra special. It also made for a 7 minute ceremony, start to finish. We were a little stressed but the minimalistic ceremony made for easy work.
During a quick room flip by the incredible Boxwood Hospitality team, guests enjoyed a self serve charcuterie table, hors d'oeuvres, a fully stocked bar, and coffees by Nightowl Coffee Cart (our new obsession). Literally, wedding vendors galore! This happy hour time gave us a few minutes to get family portraits and some bride and groom shots before the sit down dinner. There were only a couple of beautiful speeches before the tables were moved and the dance floor was flooded.
We ALL danced the night away in our Armitstead sunglasses until Neony Pizza delivered some amazing and timely pizzas. As the night came to an end, everyone went out front of the Cliff House to line the street, while Kim + Zack stayed back for their last dance. We took a second to collect ourselves, then it was time to do the big send off! The steps of the venue to the sidewalk of the street was lined with guests and streamers, making for some beautiful flash photos of our incredible couple.
